Keabetswe ‘Kea’ Motlokwa is a 29 year old woman, born and bred in Venda (Limpopo, South Africa). Kea has studied at the University of Venda, Boston Business College, Accreditation of Chartered Accountants and is currently with IMM.
She is an all-round broadcaster who works as a sports caster on the Breakfast Show (Monday – Friday) and also hosts an Afternoon Drive Show (Saturdays) on Limpopo’s only commercial radio station, Capricorn FM. She is the first female to simultaneously have two roles at the radio station. Apart from her role at the station, she is also an ambassador for Toys For Africa, endorsed by New Balance and is the online magazine editor for Starstudded.
Kea is the only South African who is under the age of 30 to sit on the panel of the Global Good Summit and she will be sitting on the panel in Tanzania, April 2017. She was the first ever female to work at 3 radio stations at the same time. In 2014, she hosted the Diepsloot Radio breakfast show, had a midday show on Jet FM and worked as a weekend stand-in presenter at Capricorn FM. Being fluent in 8 languages has expanded on her broadcast reach, as she currently broadcasts in 4 of the 8 languages.
She is currently in the finals for this year’s G-Sport awards and the only person who works for an indigenous regional radio station in the nominees list.
As a villager, she thinks that her achievements “have given hope to a lot of young females from disadvantaged backgrounds to look beyond their current setups, as this ha given many women hope that- regardless of where one is from, as our dreams are just a couple of stumbling blocks away from us and of course, ‘impossible’ is a mere word.”
