Researchers have found the way you communicate with your partner via text (and vice versa) has huge implications for how satisfied you feel with each other.
For the study (which was published in the journal Computers in Human Behavior), 205 adults between the ages of 18-28 were surveyed about their digital habits, marital status, and relationship satisfaction. There were three main consistencies among the happy couples:
1. They text each other often
Ever put time and effort into typing a long paragraph only to be met with a simple ‘K”?! Yeah, it sucks.
2. They initiated conversations equally as often
Nothing makes you want to throw your phone at a wall more than realizing you’re the only one putting in the effort.
3. They text just to chat
Find yourself checking in with your S.O even when you have nothing of substance too. According to the study, “that’s actually a good sign of relationship satisfaction.”
