HBO Finally Confirms GOT Season Eight Will Premiere in 2019

The final six episodes of Game of Thrones will premiere in 2019, HBO confirmed Thursday. In an official release, HBO also confirmed that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will direct episodes for the new season, along with GoT vets David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. Unfortunately for George R. R. Martin fans, this means that the author will not return to direct any new episodes. In fact, HBO says he will only be back to co-executive produce the eighth and final season. Then again, he does have a certain book to finish writing so hopefully this means The Winds of Winter will be published in full…
